Welcome!

Nice Barometer is a multimedia and production company founded by Jennifer Szabo. It was created to produce documentaries, podcasts, short films, and other content.

Our first documentary, The Magic of the Music, was the catalyst for Nice Barometer and inspired all the projects that followed.

But why Nice Barometer?

While barometers are really nice inventions, the name came from multiple ideas.

  • Jennifer was fortunate enough to become a Movie Nighter – a group of wise guys who get together weekly in Las Vegas to watch movies and crack wise. The Movie Nighters have a selection of jokes that are regularly yelled at a movie screen when appropriate. One of them is to yell “nice barometer” whenever a barometer or piece of machinery is seen on a wall in a room… Maybe you have to be there…
  • Jennifer’s first web project was an online jetting calculator and weather data provider for auto racers. She worked with weather variables including the barometric pressure readings in order to provide engine tuning information for racers. Indeed, she worked with some nice barometers in her time.
  • Finally, Jennifer LOVES Star Trek and sci-fi. She noticed from the above mentioned Movie Night events that there are, in fact, an abundance of Nice Barometers in lots of sci-fi.

Meet Jennifer Szabo

Jennifer is the owner of Nice Barometer media and in charge of the whole shebang. She got her degree in Communications with an emphasis in Digital Media from CSU Sacramento and has worked as a web developer, stage hand, content developer, and a professional juggler!

Meet Mike Jones

Mike Jones is the muse of Nice Barometer and an amazing jazz pianist. He graduated from Berklee College of Music and went on to play and write jingles in the Boston and New York areas until he moved to Las Vegas in 1999. He has been the music director for Penn & Teller for over 20 years.

Jennifer and Mike produce documentaries and podcasts. Jennifer also does web design and development.

Mike’s cat, Ella, is really good at being cute and at meowing loudly.
